What is a glycolic acid skin peel?

Glycolic Acid peels, more commonly known as skin peels or chemical peels are used to remove the outermost layer of the skin. The aim of the product is to create ‘controlled injury’ to the skin. This controlled injury creates a healing response from the skin which encourages collagen and elastin production, which is what makes the skin look firm and smooth. The additional benefit of having a skin peel is that it creates an exfoliating effect on the skin, which will leave the younger and fresher looking layers of skin below.

Best practices

1. Use SPF

It is always advised that clients try to stay out of the sun after a skin peel treatment, however, if clients do want to go out it is highly recommended that they wear SPF after the treatment, especially when if they have had a treatment with a stronger peel like the 40% over a home peel they may have used in the past. However, we always exercise caution even with the home peels and advise an SPF after using it.
